A popular Japanese PC shop TSUKUMO eX. has introduced strict purchase limits on graphics cards with high VRAM capacity, signaling growing strain in the GPU market due to the current RAM shortage situation, itmedia.co.jp reports.
TSUKUMO’s customers are now restricted to:
- One GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB or higher per shoppers group
- One Radeon RX 9000 series or higher per group
The store representative explained: “It’s becoming very difficult to procure high-capacity (Ed. memory) cards. We still have some in stock at the moment, but we’re not sure when the next one will arrive.”
Other stores share similar worries. One retailer noted that high-end (Ed. high-VRAM) cards are hard to restock, particularly models like the RTX 5060 Ti and RX 9600 XT. The 16GB versions may be especially difficult to replenish compared to their 8GB counterparts.
Sidenote: What Does “Per Group” Mean? TSUKUMO’s restriction applies not just to individuals but to entire shopping parties. Even if multiple people come together, the group is limited to the same maximum — one of each card total. This measure is designed to prevent hoarding and ensure fairer distribution of scarce GPUs.
